How to view and share 360° photos on Apple Vision Pro
Open them in an app that displays them spatially, so the panorama surrounds you and you look around by turning your head. OradaOl is a native visionOS app that does this and also lets you share and discover panoramas.
Looking at a screen vs. standing inside the place
On a phone, you explore a 360° panorama through a window: you drag or turn the phone, but you are still looking at a screen. On Apple Vision Pro, a panorama can wrap all the way around you. Turn your head to the right and the place continues there. Look up and the sky is there.
This is one of the most striking things the device can do, but it needs an app that shows the image spatially rather than as a flat picture floating in front of you.
Using OradaOl on Apple Vision Pro
OradaOl is a free social network for 360° panoramas, on iPhone, Apple Vision Pro and the web. Its Vision Pro version is a native visionOS app written for the platform, not a phone app running in a window.
- Install OradaOl on Apple Vision Pro from the App Store.
- Pick a panorama from the Discover feed, or browse the map and choose a place anywhere in the world.
- Step inside. The panorama surrounds you at true scale. Turn your head to look in any direction.
- Listen. If the author added ambient sound, such as wind, a crowd or waves, it plays with the view.
The Live Window
OradaOl on Apple Vision Pro includes a Live Window: a panorama portal you can pin in your room. It shows the latest view from people you follow, so a window to another place can stay in your space while you do other things.
Sharing your own 360° photos
You can share your own panoramas and then step into them on Vision Pro. The same OradaOl account works on iPhone, Apple Vision Pro and the web, so a common workflow is:
- Take a panorama with the iPhone Camera app’s Pano mode, or shoot with a 360° camera such as an Insta360 or Ricoh Theta and export an equirectangular image.
- Upload it with the OradaOl iPhone app or the web app at oradaol.app/app.
- Open OradaOl on Apple Vision Pro and step into it. Your followers can do the same.
Remember that iPhone Pano mode captures a horizontal strip around you, not the full sphere. For a view that includes the sky directly above and the ground below, use a dual-lens 360° camera.
Privacy when you share
Faces in uploaded panoramas are blurred automatically on the device before upload. If you add a location near your home, the Home Zone feature randomly offsets it before it reaches the server. You can also make your account private so only followers you approve can see your panoramas.
Tips for panoramas that feel good in a headset
- Keep the horizon level. In Pano mode, keep the arrow on the line while you turn. A wavy horizon is much more noticeable when the image surrounds you.
- Avoid moving subjects. People or cars that move during capture can appear twice or only partly.
- Shoot from eye level. Because the viewer stands where you stood, a normal standing height feels the most natural.
- Record the sound. Ambient audio makes the place feel more present when someone stands inside it.
